James Gandolfini joins Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace in Animal Rescue
James Gandolfini will always be known as Tony Soprano and there’s nothing he can do about that at this point. But to the man’s credit, he’s a talented actor that makes every movie he’s in even better. So it’s great news that he’s joining the cast of ANIMAL RESCUE. ANIMAL RESCUE is based on the short story by SHUTTER ISLAND and GONE BABY GONE screenwriter Dennis Lehane. The film will follow the story of a Boston bartender that rescues and adopts a puppy he finds in a dumpster and then has to deal with the dog’s formerly abusive owner. At the same time, the bartender is in the middle of a conspiracy in his mob controlled bar.
James Gandolfini joins the already impressive cast that will have Tom Hardy play the bartender, Noomi Rapace as someone that crosses paths with the bartender, along with Matthias Schoenaerts (RUST AND BONE) in an unspecified role. We also don’t know what kind of role James Gandolfini will play, but I don’t see him as the bad guy in this. The film will be directed by BULLHEAD helmer Michael Roskam and will start shooting this Spring. (Variety)
