James McAvoy and Saoirse Ronan may join Anna Karenina

One thing about director Joe Wright- he is loyal to his actors and actresses. With his next film HANNA coming out this weekend, he’s been making the interview rounds and has confirmed that a couple more thespians have joined the cast of his upcoming adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s ANNA KARENINA. Looks like Kelly Macdonald (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and HBO’s ‘Boardwalk Empire) and Benedict Cumberbatch (ATONEMENT and the upcoming TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY) are definitely in and regarding McAvoy and Ronan, Wright says, “I’m still waiting on Saorise and James.” Of course, it will be dependent on McAvoy’s and Ronan’s schedules as to whether or not they can participate, but since they have all worked together (in some cases multiple times) there may be a good chance that we’ll see a re-teaming of the ATONEMENT cast.
If you are on the fence about which film to see this weekend, I would recommend checking out HANNA. I haven’t been one of Joe Wright’s biggest fans, but HANNA has made a believer out of me and is a film I will definitely revisit.
