Jason Statham looking to join Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson in more Fast and Furious sequels

After the success Universal found with bringing in Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in on FAST FIVE and ended up reviving a presumably dying franchise, it’s no surprise that Universal would try the same thing again with FAST SIX and FAST SEVEN. This time, the studio is looking to bring in Mr. Action himself, Jason Statham. If everything goes as planned, Universal will film the next two sequels to the Fast and Furious franchise back to back and in Europe no less. I would love to say that Jason Statham is above doing two sequels to an already tired franchise, but the sad truth is that he’s not. In fact, Statham is perfect for the sequels and would make a great addition. I sheepishly enjoyed FAST FIVE and with Statham on board, Six and Seven could be a fun time.
All of the original cast members are expected to return, including Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris and maybe even Michelle Rodriquez. Justin Lin directed the fifth installment and is expected to return for the next two. Shooting will start in early 2012.
