Jena Malone officially joins Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
After what felt like months of speculation, but was more like weeks, we finally have an official casting announcement for THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE. Jena Malone will officially be playing Johanna Mason in the film, beating out actresses Mia Wasikowska and Zoe Aggeliki for the coveted role. For a while, it looked like Zoe Aggeliki was going to land the role of the District 7 representative with a bad attitude, but fans seemed to have been pulling for Malone and eventually, Malone got the role. Mason is one of the more interesting characters in the series as she was a previous winner of the games that becomes an ally to Katniss Everdeen, even though they don’t always get along.
Of course, more casting announcements will be coming in the next few weeks and months, but the role of Johanna Mason was a big one for fans of the books. THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE will be directed by Francis Lawrence and will star: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson. The next installment in The Hunger Games series is set to hit theaters on November 22, 2013. (THR)
