Jennifer Lawrence, Daniel Day Lewis and Argo win big at the 85th Annual Academy Awards

Jennifer Lawrence Oscars

Before the Oscars even kicked off, Jennifer Lawrence was voted as the “best dressed” on the Red Carpet show and the good night didn’t stop in her Dior dress. The young actress picked up her first Best Actress Academy Award for her role in SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK. But she was the favorite going in, as was Daniel Day Lewis, who won Best Actor for his portrayal of Abraham Lincoln in LINCOLN. For supporting roles, Anne Hathaway confirmed she was the only sure-fire thing at this years awards and won for LES MISERABLES and Christoph Waltz won Best Supporting Actor for DJANGO UNCHAINED, which might be considered the only upset of the acting awards.

But the big winner of the night was ARGO, which won Best Picture despite the film’s director, Ben Affleck, being snubbed in the Best Director category. That award went to Ang Lee for LIFE OF PI. Overall, it was a decent telecast, even if it was way too long at just over 3.5 hours. Host Seth MacFarlane was hit and miss, but we’ll have more commentary on the 85th Annual Academy Awards tomorrow. In the meantime, go to Page 2 to see the complete list of winners.
