Jessica Chastain joins Javier Bardem in A Most Violent Year

Jessica Chastain

After starring in every movie that was made in 2011 and half the movies made in 2012, Jessica Chastain slowed down a little bit in 2013 and has, to date, only appeared in one movie (MAMA), with another one on the way (THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ELEANOR RIGBY).  She only has three movies lined up over the next few years (MISS JULIE, INTERSTELLAR and CRIMSON PEAK), so she needs to get busy if she wants to keep her pace up.  Now you can add A MOST VIOLENT YEAR to the list as she has signed on to star opposite Javier Bardem in the J.C. Chandor (MARGIN CALL, the upcoming ALL IS LOST) directed film.

Right now, we don’t know anything about the film, other than what a J.C. Chandor fan site (every celebrity has one) says in that it will follow corruption in the finance world during the 80’s.  Given Chandor has a history with finance corruption, this isn’t a long shot.  But we don’t know for sure and there have been no official plot details released to date.  ALL IS LOST is getting rave reviews for Chandor and star Robert Redford and MARGIN CALL was one of my favorite movies of 2011, so I’m excited to see what becomes of this.  I joke about Jessica Chastain starring in a lot of movies, but she does a great job in everything she does, so her addition to the project makes me even more excited.
