Jim Carrey to reteam with Steve Oedekerk in Ricky Stanicky

Jim Carrey

RICKY STANICKY is a movie that has been wanting to be made for quite a while.  A few years ago, James Franco was attached.  But now funny man Jim Carrey has signed on to star in the Summit Entertainment comedy and will be directed by his old friend Steve Oedekerk (KUNG POW: ENTER THE FIST).  Oedekerk’s previous connection to Carrey was from writing BRUCE ALMIGHTY and writing and directing ACE VENTURA: WHEN NATURE CALLS.

RICKY STANICKY is a comedy that follows a couple of guys who have been blaming all their problem on a fake person.  After using their pretend alibi to get out of far too many situations for nearly twenty years, their wives demand to see Ricky Stanicky.  Committed to their lie, they hire an out-of-work actor (Jim Carrey) to play the part of their made-up person.  I’m not sure this premise can sustain itself for a full ninety minutes, but I believe Carrey is the right man for the job to pull out some decent laughs.  He was by far the best part of THE INCREDIBLE BURT WONDERSTONE (click the link to read the review) and is expected to be pretty great in KICK-ASS 2.
