Jodie Foster's next directorial project to be a sci-fi thriller

Jodie Foster is most known to fans as a brilliant actor, and although she has directed four films they have not gotten the amount of attention as they would have if she were in front of the cameras rather than behind (except for the upcoming dramady THE BEAVER, but I think we all know it’s not Foster getting the attention but her co-star). Mostly known for directing family films, Foster will venture out of her comfort zone and do a sci-fi thriller that right now is in the process of being written, although not by Foster herself. Since she is busy shooting several films this year, including ELYSIUM and CARNAGE, don’t expect to hear a lot about this upcoming project until later this year or even earlier next, but it’s nice to know that it’s coming down the pipeline.

Foster’s next film THE BEAVER, in which she stars in and directs will open in theaters on May 20, 2011. The film co-stars Mel Gibson, Jennifer Lawrence and Anton Yelchin.
