John Travolta could take on the role of football legend Vince Lombardi in biopic

John Travolta and Vince Lombardi

Poor John Travolta. He’s had a lot of bad press lately, but as everyone knows the best way to get past such obstacles is to put your head down and keep working which leads us to a potential new project. In an interview John Travolta mentioned that he was thinking about doing a biopic of the legendary football coach Vince Lombardi. John Travolta said in an interview, ” I’m…considering doing a US film about the football coach Vince Lombardi, who coached my dad (Salvatore Travolta) before he went professional. I would play Vince Lomabrdi.” For those unfamiliar with Vince Lombardi, he is best known as the head coach of the Green Bay Packers during the 1960s, and led his team to three straight league championships, which included winning the first two Super Bowls in 1966 and 1967. The NFL Super Bowl trophy is actually named after him. A film about Vince Lombardi has been tossed around in Hollywood over the last couple of years, but obviously nothing has gotten off the ground yet. Maybe John Travolta will be the guy to take the project into the end zone (sorry, I just couldn’t help myself.)

John Travolta can be seen next in the films KILLING SEASON and GOTTI: IN THE SHADOW OF MY FATHER, both of which are in the production stages. (ScreenDaily)
