John Travolta, Uma Thurman and Blake Lively set to join Savages

I feel almost guilty for saying this, but I’ve completely lost faith in Oliver Stone. He’s just had too many bad movies lately and PLATOON seems like ages ago. So it’s with cautious optimism that I discuss his upcoming project SAVAGES. He’s doing what he can by lining up one heck of a cast that includes Aaron Johnson, Taylor Kitsch, Salma Hayek and Benicio Del Toro. Joining that already stellar cast is John Travolta, Uma Thurman and Blake Lively. This, of course, marks a reunion of sorts for Travolta and Thurman, who were great together in PULP FICTION and again in BE COOL.

The film is based on the novel by Don Winslow and is about two drug runners that catch the eye of a powerful, Mexican drug cartel. When they refuse to join the cartel, the cartel kidnaps their friend O and demands a heavy ransom. To get the money, they start ripping off the very cartel that has kidnapped O. Travolta would play a strung out DEA agent, Lively will play the free spirited O and Thurman will play O’s mother.
