John Woo's Hong Kong classic The Killer getting a remake

Posted by: Kristy Sturdivant

Watch out, Hollywood is remaking another film. This time it’s a classic action flick from John Woo called THE KILLER. It’s not one I’ve seen but I have heard that it is an action film to beat all action films and Chow Yun-Fat’s performance was stellar. So how to do you match such an accomplishment- you remake it of course! The only good thing I see about this is at least Essential Entertainment and Lion Rock Productions (who are the ones taking on this epic challenge) was smart enough to involve John Woo who will be producing with directing handed to John H. Lee. Woo states:

While all my films are special to me, THE KILLER is truly one of my favorites. We are thrilled to reinvent it as an English-language film and know it’s in capable hands by the incredible visual style and tender emotion John H. Lee brings to all his films.

THE KILLER follows an assassin who in the line of duty accidentally blinds a a beautiful singer and must protect her with the help of a police officer. So how could this film be enhanced even more you ask? Well, put it in 3D obviously. No word on when production will actually start or who will be cast but stay tuned.
