Johnny Depp is front and center on this new poster for The Rum Diary

I’ve grown tired of seeing Johnny Depp is films that don’t suit him. I remember when Depp was in BENNY & JOON, WHAT’S EATING GILBERT GRAPE, ED WOOD, and many other great films. To see him in something like THE TOURIST just makes me sad.
I was more than thrilled when I found out that he was doing THE RUM DIARY. This takes Depp back to his crazy Hunter S. Thompson days. He may not be playing Thompson but the undertones are certainly there when you watch the trailer. A second poster for the film is just the basic shot of the main character. I’m sure the ladies will like this one.
Synopsis: Paul Kemp (Depp) is a freelance journalist who finds himself at a critical turning point in his life while writing for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean. Paul is challenged on many levels as he tries to carve out a more secure niche for himself amidst a group of lost souls all bent on self-destruction.
