Johnny Depp won't be starring in Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel
I was excited when news broke that one of the quirkiest actors working today was teaming up with one of the quirkiest directors, but something made me think it was too good to be true. As it turns out, it is too good to be true and now we get word that Johnny Depp will not be starring in Wes Anderson’s next film, THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL. While speaking with the Huffington Post, the subject of Johnny Depp starring in the film came up and Wes Anderson said “Johnny is somebody who I would love to work with at some point, but he’s not going to be in this movie. But I actually have not put the cast out — I have not announced the cast. We have quite a great cast.”
Until that statement, we thought THE GRAND BUDAPEST hotel was going to star Owen Wilson, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Jude Law, Jeff Goldblum, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe and Angela Lansbury. But Anderson is being coy about the cast and I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I also wouldn’t rule out a cameo appearance from Johnny Depp. Wes Anderson has a way of hiding things and a Depp cameo is worth being sneaky about.
