Jonah Hill will join Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street
Jonah Hill has officially crossed the border from straight-up comedic actor to a well-rounded respected actor. He was on the verge of this with his role in MONEYBALL, but Jonah Hill just secured his position when he signed on to star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming drama THE WOLF OF WALL STREET. Congratulations Jonah Hill, that is not an easy feat for many actors to accomplish.
THE WOLF OF WALL STREET is based on the memoir of Jordan Belfort and focuses on his career in the 80’s and 90’s, where he was basically a drug and sex addicted stockbroker in New York who refused to cooperate in a big time fraud case. Leonardo DiCaprio will play the lead and Jonah Hill will be portraying his best friend. This project has had a rocky road over the last year, so it’s great that everything and everyone is back on track. Production for THE WOLF OF WALL STREET will begin in August with a probable release in 2013. We’ll definitely have to keep an eye on Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Martin Scorsese during the Oscar season next year.
I’m really happy for Jonah Hill, this is really a great role to snag. It can’t be easy crossing genres, especially when you’ve been in a specific one for several years. I’m anxious to see what else Jonah Hill has in store, with one Academy Award nomination under his belt it probably won’t be too long before we start seeing him take on dramatic leads instead of just supporting ones. Though I hope Jonah Hill will continue to give us comedies every once in awhile. It’s always nice to see an actor in their comfort zone, and he’s just too good of a comedian to not continue along that path occasionally. (Deadline)
