Jonathan Demme options rights to Stephen King's JFK novel

We went from talking about Guillermo del Toro everyday to now turning over a new leaf with Stephen King as the hot button. Yesterday it was news about the HARRY POTTER team adapting and directing THE STAND for the big screen. Now another director is going after the rights to a King novel.

Jonathan Demme (RACHEL GETTING MARRIED) has optioned King’s upcoming JFK assassination, time travel novel, “11/22/63”. Demme will write as well as direct on the project.

The book is due out this November and the story is a wacky one. The plot focuses on an English teacher somehow finds a time vortex that spits him out at the time of the JFK assassination. During his journey, the teacher meets JFK and Elvis then later finds love in that time with a librarian. King will serve as executive producer on the project.

I say the more King material used, the better. The man has a spectacular creative mind that should be shared with readers and filmgoers alike.
