Joseph Gordon-Levitt reveals a new image from his directorial debut, now called Don Jon
Joseph Gordon-Levitt took to his FaceBook page today to announce that he has changed the name of his directorial debut from DON JON’S ADDICTION to DON JON. In his own words: “I’m posting this today to let you all know that I’m changing its title. It’s now called… DON JON. … it felt to me like the old title, “Don Jon’s Addiction” was throwing some people off a bit from the point of the movie. People were assuming it was a film about porn addiction and sex addiction, which really isn’t true. That’d be sort of like saying “The Maltese Falcon” is a movie about a statue of a falcon. DON JON is a comedy about how men and women treat each other, and how the media we consume can create unrealistic expectations that we put on one another. That’s why the story centers around a relationship between a young man (played by me) who watches too much pornography and a young woman (played by Scarlett) who watches too many romantic Hollywood movies.”
He also debuted the first image of Tony Danza from the film and promised that he’s going to be in Austin to promote the film during the SXSW Festival. I’m glad he took the time to clear up the meaning of the film since I also thought it was more about a guy addicted to porn. The clarification makes me much more excited to see it. Directed by and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, DON JON’S ADDICTION also stars: Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore, Brie Larson, Rob Brown and Tony Danza. Joseph Gordon-Levitt promises a release date later this year. Oh, and if you’re a fan of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, I highly recommend following him on FaceBook. He’s one of the few stars that posts cool pics on his page and updates fans with stuff they’ll find interesting.
