Joseph Gordon-Levitt is rumored to be Marvel’s first choice for Doctor Strange
I think we’re at a point with Joseph Gordon-Levitt that we can just safely assume that every executive and director casting a 25 to 35 year-old male is going put JGL at the top of their wish list. So the news that Marvel has internally named Joseph Gordon-Levitt as their ideal choice to lead their Doctor Strange movie should come as no surprise. The source does point out that they don’t think Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been given an offer or even been approached about the role. But for now, he’s who they have in mind and if they get their way, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be playing Doctor Strange.
Aside from the obvious charm and likeability of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Disney would be wise to get him into their Marvel universe as soon as possible. Right now, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a tie to the DC universe and I’m sure the executives at Warner Bros. are still trying to figure out a way to keep him involved, if not with Batman then as some other Justice League character. This would be a good steal for Marvel, if they can pull it off. Of course, Marvel still needs a director for their Doctor Strange script which was written by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer. (Latino-Review)
