Joseph Gordon-Levitt to star in and direct untitled romantic comedy with Scarlett Johansson
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to star in and direct an untitled romantic comedy that will have him playing a modern day ladies man that decides he wants to stop being a jerk. The film is based off a script he also wrote and he’ll be starring in the film with Scarlett Johansson and another lead female that has yet to be cast. Unfortunately, we don’t know too many specifics of the plot yet, but in a recent interview with Deadline, Gordon-Levitt revealed that his passion all along has been to direct and he’s very proud of the film he’s chosen as his first feature film;
“I was a child actor for years and quit at 19, went to school awhile, and a big part of why I came back was that I ultimately wanted to make movies, I spent a year working with Chris Nolan, Rian Johnson, Steven Spielberg, and I did my best to pay attention. I’ve also been making short films for a long time now, I’ve directed a ton of them, and that is a huge part of why I feel comfortable and confident in this. I wrote myself a helluva role, one that people wouldn’t necessarily thought of me for.”
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is kind of the chic answer right now when someone asks “who is your favorite actor”, and rightfully so. He’s given some great performances recently in 5/50, 500 DAYS OF SUMMER and INCEPTION, among others. He has a busy 2012 with LOOPER, PREMIUM RUSH, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES and LINCOLN all due to hit in the next 10 months.
