Josh Pence joins Christian Bale, Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway in The Dark Knight Rises

Well, how about this for a bit of late Friday night casting news: Josh Pence will be playing a younger Ra’s Al Ghul in the upcoming THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. Al Ghul, as you remember, was originally played by Liam Neeson in BATMAN BEGINS and Pence will play Ghul in flashbacks, nearly 30 years earlier. You probably don’t know who Josh Pence is, but if you saw THE SOCIAL NETWORK, you saw a lot of him…at least from the neck down. He was Tyler Winklevoss and ended up having his head digitally replaced by Armie Hammer. I’m not sure that bodes well for you in getting your career started, but having a supporting role in a Christopher Nolan Batman film will sure do the trick.
This is really the first confirmation we’ve gotten that Rises will tie back to Begins by revisiting the Al Ghul character. Rumors have swirled that they were going to work in a son or daughter out for revenge and including a younger Ghul would make it easy to jump to that conclusion. But you never really know with Nolan. So far, Nolan has Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Michael Cain all set for the third part of the trilogy.
