Julia Ormond set to play Henry Cavill's mother in the Superman reboot, Man of Steel

Some of you probably don’t remember, but there was a time when Julia Ormond was one of the hottest (both career-wise and appearance-wise) in Hollywood. She starred in some big films, including LEGENDS OF THE FALL, SABRINA and FIRST KNIGHT (although, admittedly, they weren’t great films). But after SABRINA, something happened and she disappeared from the Hollywood limelight and into what ever place actresses go when audiences forget about them. Well, all of that is about to change now that she’s signed on to star as Superman’s biological mother, Lara Lor-Van in the upcoming reboot MAN OF STEEL. This announcement comes about a week after we learned that Russell Crowe was going to be playing his biological father, Jor-El.
Ormond joins a cast that already includes Henry Cavill as Supes, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane a Ma and Pa Kent and Michael Shannon as the villain General Zod. Zack Snyder is directing under the watchful eye of producer Christopher Nolan.
