Julia Roberts, James Franco and Javier Bardem in Eat, Pray, Love Trailer

It seems like we’ve been waiting a while to get a trailer or even a picture from the upcoming big screen adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert’s EAT, PRAY, LOVE.  Today we get the first trailer for the film, starring Julia Roberts as a woman that spends a year traveling the world in an effort to change her life.  There’s a lot more going on, of course, but that’s basically the gist of it.  The film also stars James Franco, Billy Crudup, Jeffrey Dean Morgan Javier Bardem and Viola Davis.  Ryan Murphy (RUNNING WITH SCISSORS) is directing and the film will hit theaters on August 13th.

In the trailer, they describe this as “an incredible true story” and I have to question that.  I think quitting your job and taking a year off to travel the world is more of a “mid-life crisis” or a “I have to get away” type of deal and not “incredible”.  But I didn’t read the book, so maybe I’m missing something.  For those that have read the book, is Julia Roberts a good casting choice?
