Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel in the Life As We Know It trailer

The filmmakers for the upcoming “comedy” LIFE AS WE KNOW IT are stuck with the unenviable task that many filmmakers before them have been stuck with; how do you make a comedy when the underlying emotion of the film is sadness? The premise of the film is that Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel are “stuck” raising kids when the kids’ parents die unexpectedly. So we know the first 30 minutes or so of the movie are going to be sad and for me, that’s going to diminish the rest of the “comedy” since dead parents are never funny. With that said, the film could end up being pretty decent and it looks like they kept the awkwardness to a minimum.
The film also stars Christina Hendricks, Josh Lucas, Jean Smart and Faizon Love. Greg Berlanti will be directing.
