Keira Knightley replaces Anne Hathaway in Laggies
If you can’t get the busy Anne Hathaway to star in your film, Keira Knightley is a nice consolation prize. The newly married British actress has signed on to star in the film LAGGIES for director Lynn Shelton. The film is about a twentysomething woman that responds to her boyfriend’s proposal by claiming to go on a work retreat, only to spend the week hanging out with her new high school-aged friends. Shelton recently directed the film TOUCHY FEELY about a masseuse that decides she doesn’t like touching people.
LAGGIES has seen a bit of a casting carousel in the lead role. Rebecca Hall was circling the project for a while but wasn’t able to commit after she signed on for TRANSCENDENCE. So then Shelton went with Anne Hathaway, only to run into a scheduling problem when Hathaway decided to join Christopher Nolan’s INTERSTELLAR. It seems Shelton can’t compete with anyone in the Nolan universe. So she wasn’t going to be fooled a third time and has gone with Keira Knightley, whom I don’t believe has any ties to Christopher Nolan. Keira Knightley joins a film that already has Chloe Grace Moretz, Mark Webber and Sam Rockwell attached to star. Filming is scheduled to start soon. (Deadline)
