Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough in another poster for the Footloose remake

Posted by: Brad Sturdivant

If you thought after I trashed the FOOTLOOSE remake when the first poster and trailer came out earlier in the week that I would avoid posting any news updates, then you were mistaken.  I have so much ammo against this film that I could write a 100 page dissertation on it and therefore, I’ll use any excuse I can to post another story about it.  In this case, I’ll focus on the marketing efforts, most notably, the poster below.  First, this retro thing they’re doing with the lettering is like beating someone up and then making fun of them afterwards.  This film’s mere existence is insulting enough, do they really have to use that retro lettering to remind us the film is a remake?  We get it.  We’re trying to move on, so Paramount needs to let it go.  Any reference to the original (including using the original song in the trailer) should be dropped.  Even George Lucas had more respect for the original STAR WARS films then Paramount does for the original FOOTLOOSE.

Finally, the 22 year-old Julianne Hough looks like she’s 34 and should be packing Kenny Wormald’s lunch, not grinding on him in some club (which undoubtedly will bust out into a spontaneous synchronized dance).  Anyway, for those still interested, the film hits theaters on October 14th.
