Kevin Costner looking to star with Henry Cavill in Superman

The internet is abuzz today that Kevin Costner is rumored to be joining the upcoming SUPERMAN reboot in an unspecified role. Of course, we can all speculate as to what Costner might be playing, but the only thing that fits in my book is Jonathan Kent (Superman’s adoptive Earth father). He was practically playing that part in THE COMPANY MEN anyway, so it should be a nice transition; just don’t ask him to carry a country accent. But in all seriousness, this fits the Christopher Nolan mold of casting as he’s a fan of surrounding a young actor with talented veteran actors. And this would also be a nice lead-in to the inevitable female lead casting announcement.

So far, the only thing we know is that Henry Cavill will be playing the Man of Steel, Christopher Nolan is producing, Zack Snyder is directing and David S. Goyer is writing the screenplay. Now that almost every role in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES has been cast, it looks like the next several months will be focused on SUPERMAN rumors.
