Kevin Costner will play Jonathan Kent in Superman reboot

It has been confirmed that Kevin Costner will play Jonathan Kent, the father of adopted child Clark Kent, in the upcoming Zack Snyder reboot SUPERMAN (which may be called MAN OF STEEL but that’s not confirmed). Snyder stated in the press release that, “Kevin will be able to communicate the quite strength of this rural American man who raised the greatest super hero of all time.” So Costner will play Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane will play Martha Kent and Henry Cavill will take on the Man of Steel, now we must confirm who General Zod will be (Viggo Mortensen was mentioned as a very serious contender but not yet confirmed). We’ll be keeping an eye on casting as shooting will probably begin sometime this summer or early fall since the film is slated for a December 2012 theatrical release.
I like Kevin Costner and don’t mind that he can’t hold an accent (which is what most people throw out there when you mention Costner). Do you know why? It’s because Kansans don’t have accents so that won’t be a big deal in this film. All Costner has to do is play a hard-working farmer who passes on some good morals to his son, Costner can totally handle that.
