Kevin Smith debuts the Red State teaser trailer

Kevin Smith has taken a lot of flak lately for his movies and rightfully so after the abomination that was COP OUT. In fact, his recent slide has been so severe that I’ve almost given up on our favorite pudgy filmmaker. But the first “teaser trailer” (not really a trailer, just a jumble of clips he debuted on his Smodcast) gives me faith that he’s gone back to his indie roots and made a quality film. I’m not a fan of horror movies, but I like what Kevin Smith is selling with RED STATE, especially utilizing the creepiness of fundamentalist groups. Because there is nothing scarier than religious fundamentalists.
The film stars Michael Angarano, John Goodman, Melissa Leo (coming off her great turn in THE FIGHTER), Stephen Root, Kyle Gallner and Ralph Garman. Kevin Smith is directing the film which will debut at Sundance at the end of January and then probably hit theaters in the Spring. Watch the trailer below.
