Kristen Bell petitioning for role in The Hunger Games, John C. Reilly not confirmed to play Haymitch

Looks like some more news is cropping up for the Gary Ross film THE HUNGER GAMES from author Suzanne Collins. First, looks like the whole John C. Reilly bit about being offered the role as District 12 mentor Haymitch Abernathy may have been a little premature. His rep has denied the rumors that he’s been offered a role yet, but that doesn’t mean the studio isn’t considering it. So if you are pulling for another actor to take on the drunken yet clever Haymitch, you may still get your wish. Woody Harrelson (in character from 2012 not ZOMBIELAND) was thrown out as a candidate from FB fan Rena and I think that would be a good fit, just in case the studio is listening.
Next it looks like Kristen Bell is petitioning for the role of Johanna Mason, who wasn’t even in the first book but plays a big part in the second and third installments. Mason is a District 7 survivor who strikes up a friendship with Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence). Guess it’s not too early to start putting the thought into the casting directors mind but since I’m not that far into the series it’s tough to say whether or not Bell is a good fit. THE HUNGER GAMES is scheduled for a release of March 23, 2012.
