Kristen Stewart drops out of her mom's directorial debut K-11

Remember that film we talked about quite some time ago called K-11, that was to star Kristen Stewart and Nikki Reed about two transgender prisoners that are in the section of the Los Angeles County jail reserved for homosexuals, referred to as K-11? No? Well no worries since there has been some major casting changes, most notably Reed and Stewart have now both backed out and Stewart’s brother Cameron Stewart has joined on and will play the part of Sledgehammer, but the film will still be directed by Jules Stewart. Mama Stewart is moving forward without her megastar daughter and has Goran Visnijic, Portia Doubleday and D.B. Sweeny also set to star in the film which started shooting on July 18th.
It’s still a little unclear what exactly this film is about, but I do know it involves a love story between Mousy, a methhead transgender and Butterfly, a transgender young man. We also know that Visnijic will be playing a record producer who finds himself in jail after a binge and discovers the place is ruled by a “viper transsexual” who could be Mousey.
I’ll be interested to see if we hear any back story as to why KStew dropped out of this film, especially since it was a sort of passion project for her mother. Has she gotten too big and doesn’t want to spoil her image? Or is it as simple as she just didn’t have time and didn’t want to make her mom wait on her?
Updated: We’ve been contacted by Libertine Films and they have confirmed that Kristen Stewart dropped out of this film due to scheduling conflicts with her upcoming film SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN.
