Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and more join the Ghostbusters reboot
After all the rumors and drama surrounding Paul Feig’s upcoming all-female Ghostbusters reboot, it turns out that he went with some familiar faces. First up is the dynamic duo of Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy, who starred in Feig’s hit comedy BRIDESMAIDS. Those were the extremely obvious choices and although there was some concern McCarthy wasn’t going to be able to fit it into her schedule, I think we all knew it would work out just fine. Next up is the Saturday Night Live duo of Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. McKinnon has made waves lately for her hilarious portrayal of Justin Bieber.
Overall, nothing to complain about here as far as casting is concerned. They went with true comedy veterans and each of them should add a bit of flavor to the cast. So now it all comes down to what Feig does with it since I’m not sure America is clamoring for a GHOSTBUSTERS reboot. In a recent interview, Feig said “We’re not recreating the old movie, but we want to do just enough fun nods that the fans will go, ‘Oh, okay, they’re acknowledging that the other movie existed,” It makes sense, but now let’s see how they work in cameos for stars of the original films.
