Lasse Hallström to direct Tom’s Dad with Patrick Dempsey

Posted by: Nathan Swank

TOM’S DAD, starring Patrick Dempsey, gets Lasse Hallström as a director. The film is about a famous actor and a comedy vaudevillian nightclub performer whose work and personal life is beginning to struggle during the 1960’s. One is due to the progressive changing comedy styles and the other is due to the arrival of an estranged son. Point Blank’s Joni Levin and Keith Clarke will produce with Johnny Depp’s Infinitum Nihil.

Lasse Hallström has directed some great films: CIDER HOUSE RULES, CHOCOLAT, WHAT’S EATING GILBERT GRAPE and THE HOAX. That’s very reassuring information, unfortunately his last work was the terrible DEAR JOHN, so my confidence is a little shaky.
