Leonardo DiCaprio is going to take a break from acting
Although the coveted Oscar has so far eluded Leonardo DiCaprio, few would argue that he’s one of the greatest actors of our generation. Every movie he does is an event and after starring in a string of good to great movies the past couple of years (although their releases have been spread out), Leonardo DiCaprio needs a break. The past couple of years have seen him starring in SHUTTER ISLAND, INCEPTION, DJANGO UNCHAINED and the upcoming THE GREAT GATSBY and THE WOLF OF WALL STREET. So when he says he needs a break, it’s hard to fault him for it. And if he focuses on his environmental efforts, then he’ll be doing good while we wait for him to get back to movies.
While speaking to the German magazine Bild, Leonardo DiCaprio said “I am a bit drained. I’m now going to take a long, long break. I’ve done three films in two years and I’m just worn out. I would like to improve the world a bit. I will fly around the world doing good for the environment. My roof is covered with solar panels. My car is electric. A normal person does not drive more than 50 kilometres (31 miles) a day. That can be done with a plug”
Although his fans will be disappointed he’s taking a break, it’s not like we won’t have a lot of Leonardo DiCaprio in 2013. He’ll have two movies and of course, will have to do press for them, but that should still give him time to do his environmental work. I would also assume that a “long, long break” for DiCaprio is probably a year at most. It’s true Leonardo DiCaprio is an A-list star at the top of his game and high profile projects will wait for him, but Hollywood will only wait so long.
