Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill appear in new images from The Wolf of Wall Street
Martin Scorsese’s THE WOLF OF WALL STREET and George Clooney’s MONUMENTS MEN are two great examples of movies fighting to make it in before the end of year deadline, but each film took a drastically different approach to their release date. Wolf decided to race to the finish line and make that Christmas Day release date. Monuments on the other hand decided to back off and accept a Spring release. The advantage for Wolf is that it’s eligible for the Academy Awards this year, but the disadvantage is that they couldn’t send screeners out to critics societies and have missed out on picking up critics awards. Whether or not that bites them come Oscar time remains to be seen. On a positive note, at least it won’t be forgotten with a springtime release. While you’re waiting for Christmas Day to arrive, check out a ton of new pics from the film. Directed by Martin Scorsese, THE WOLF OF WALL STREET stars: Leonardo DiCaprio, Matthew McConaughey, Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, Joe Bernthal, Rob Reiner, Jake Hoffman, Jon Favreau, Cristin Milioti, Spike Jonze, Shea Whigham, Kyle Chandler and Ethan Suplee. The film hits theaters on Christmas Day.
The official synopsis for THE WOLF OF WALL STREET: Revered filmmaker Martin Scorsese directs the story of New York stockbroker Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio). From the American dream to corporate greed, Belfort goes from penny stocks and righteousness to IPOs and a life of corruption in the late 80s. Excess success and affluence in his early twenties as founder of the brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont warranted Belfort the title – THE WOLF OF WALL STREET. Money. Power. Women. Drugs. Temptations were for the taking and the threat of authority was irrelevant. For Jordan and his wolf pack, modesty was quickly deemed overrated and more was never enough.
