Leonardo DiCaprio looks sinister in new photo from QuentinTarantino's Django Unchained
Earlier this month we got our first taste of Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming spaghetti western DJANGO UNCHAINED, and today we get a couple of new pictures that make my heart sing a little. Not necessarily because Leonardo DiCaprio looks completely unhinged and sinister (though I do love when actors go that route in a film), but because it means that Mr. Tarantino’s next film is a real life project that he just can’t stop making. Considering Tarantino only has a handful of great films to his name, a new one coming out is just so exciting. Plus I think Jamie Foxx looks pretty good in a western ensemble, am I the only one who thinks so?
Here’s a quick rundown of the plotline, though I’m sure this is just the tip of the DJANGO UNCHAINED iceberg. The film follows the story of Django (Jaime Foxx), a freed slave who is trained by former dentist Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) to be a deputy bounty hunter. After his training Django goes to the plantation of Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), a ruthless slave owner who is in possession of Django’s wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington). DJANGO UNCHAINED has a star-studded cast that includes: Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kurt Russell, RZA, Anthony LaPaglia and Kerry Washington. DJANGO UNCHAINED is set to hit theaters on December 25, 2012.
I don’t know if it’s the burgundy attire or the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio is holding a hammer like he’s going to smack someone across the face with it, but I’m really starting to get excited for this film. I think this will be a good role for Leonardo DiCaprio because I don’t think people realize how great of an actor he really is. Most people still associate Leonardo DiCaprio with James Cameron’s TITANIC, but he’s really a superb actor in whatever role he takes. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that DJANGO UNCHAINED will earn Leonardo DiCaprio another Academy Award nomination so I can see him take home a little gold statue. (EW)
