Leonardo DiCaprio to produce and star in The Devil In The White City

Leonardo DiCaprio has acquired the screen rights to the 2003 non-fiction book by Erik Larson, The Devil In The White City: Murder, Magic And Madness At The Fair That Changed America. The story is about one of the most dangerous serial killers during the 1890’s. Dr. HH Holmes was a charming sociopath that constructed The World’s Fair Hotel in Chicago. He lured his victims, usually young women, to the Inn where he murdered them using a gas chamber, crematorium and a dissecting table. Holmes would strip their skeletons to sell for medical and scientific study. The “Murder Castle” was home to anywhere between 27 and 200 deaths.
Dicaprio and Jennifer Killoran of Appian Way have teamed up with Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher of Double Features to produce THE DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY. DiCaprio will play Holmes in the film. I’m excited for DiCaprio. I believe he is one of our greatest living actors. He’s been passionate about this story for quite some time and I prematurely foresee at the very least another Oscar nomination for this type of role.
