Beyonce’s pregnancy and Leonardo DiCaprio's departure delay the A Star is Born remake

On many levels, Clint Eastwood has earned enough credibility in his distinguished career that he deserves the benefit of the doubt. But one of the biggest head scratchers from the director was his decision to move forward with another remake of A STAR IS BORN, this time starring former Desitny’s Child frontwoman and current Jay-Z spouse Beyonce. With all the unmade scripts and opportunities for musicals out there, there’s just no reason to revisit A STAR IS BORN. But it looks like the movie Gods have interfered as Beyonce announced last night at the VMA’s that she’s pregnant. So filming can’t begin for at least another 12 months (I’m guessing 9 months for the birth and 3 months for her to get back into shape).
But that wasn’t the only setback to the film, it looks like Clint Eastwood’s desire to have Leonardo DiCaprio as the male lead won’t happen either as the actor has passed on the project. Will Smith, Robert Downey Jr., Jon Hamm, Russell Crowe and Christian Bale have been mentioned as possible replacements, with Smith and Bale at the top of the list.
