Liam Neeson and Olivia Wilde are the first to join Paul Haggis’ ensemble film Third Person
Liam Neeson has been on a surprising success as an action hero of sorts lately. But today we get news that THE GREY star will be the leading man in the romantic drama THIRD PERSON. The film will be written and directed by Paul Haggis (CRASH) and also star pretty girl Olivia Wilde (COWBOYS & ALIENS).
When Vulture asked, Haggis said this about the film, “It’s about three story lines, three love stories, three relationships in three different cities that combine in a very odd way: New York, Paris, Rome.” He also confirmed both Neeson and Wilde as a couple but remained coy about who would play the other couples.
I’m not as big a fan of Haggis as Hollywood seems to be. While I think his writing is pretty good (MILLION DOLLAR BABY, CASINO ROYALE), I haven’t been too impressed with his directing. THE NEXT THREE DAYS and IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH were both just ok and CRASH was terrible but then again it won Best Picture. Olivia Wilde has been fair in her limited roles but has yet to prove any real talent other than picking funny man and my fellow Kansas City resident Jason Sudeikis as her gentleman escort. Liam Neeson, on the other hand, has been rock solid of recent and is also rumored to be in negotiations but to take his “particular set of skills” to the air in an airplane thriller NON-STOP from Joel Silver’s Dark Castle Entertainment. With all his phenomenal unlikely action hero characters from fighting kidnappers to wolves, I look forward to Neeson punching romance in the face.
