Maggie Gyllenhaal, Hugh Dancy and Rupert Everett to star in Hysteria

Maggie Gyllenhaal, Hugh Dancy, Jonathan Pryce and Rupert Everett have all signed on to star in HYSTERIA. Set in Victorian-era England, HYSTERIA will tell the untold story of the invention of the vibrator. Because I know everyone out there is dying to know how the vibrator came to be. Dancy and Pryce will portray doctors that are treating cases of hysteria that they believed to be caused by a woman’s irritability, anger or mood swings. So the doctors team up with their friend and create the treasured electrical device. Let the sex jokes commence. The film was written by Stephen Dyer and Jonah Lisa Dyer and is set to be directed by Tanya Wexler with filming starting in October.
What I don’t completely understand about this is Maggie Gyllenhaal’s involvement. She’s arguably the biggest star and she’s set to play the daughter of Pryce’s character. Whether she’s involved with the “testing” of the device is unclear.
