Maggie Smith stars in Dustin Hoffman’s new Quartet trailer

Dustin Hoffman’s directorial debut QUARTET has been in the works for awhile now, and finally we’re getting to see the new trailer for the film which opens in January. QUARTET follows several residents in a retirement home who are former opera singers. While the residents are getting ready for their annual concert, they are interrupted by the arrival of Jean (Maggie Smith) a diva who happened to be married to one of the current residents. The trailer makes the film look mildly interesting, but really I’m intrigued by watching a movie directed by Dustin Hoffman and watching another film with Michael Gambon (who played Dumbledore in the last few Harry Potter films) in it. However, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to see Gambon in another film without mentally putting a wizard’s hat on him.

Directed by Dustin Hoffman, QUARTET stars: Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon , Billy Connolly, Tom Courtenay and Pauline Collins. QUARTET opens in theaters on January 4th, 2013. Check out the trailer for QUARTET below.
