Margaret starring Matt Damon and Anna Paquin will finally release in September

Back in 2005, Anna Paquin and Matt Damon shot a film for director Kenneth Lonergan (YOU CAN COUNT ON ME) called MARGARET. That film has still never seen the light of day but will soon enough.
Lonergan got tied up in lawsuits and could never get the film the way he wanted it in the editing room. The supposedly 300-page script was a monster that could not get down to a reasonable running time. The director could only lower it to three hours, but Fox Searchlight demanded two. The story, “has echoes of 9/11 survivor’s guilt, and follows the ramifications of a tragic bus accident as seen through the eyes of a high school student desperate to parse the tragedy for a deeper spiritual meaning.” Lonergan even had help from Martin Scorsese trying to cut the film down.
Finally, word has come in from Exhibitor Relations that the film will be released on September 30th. Also starring in the film alongside Damon and Paquin are Mark Ruffalo, Matthew Broderick, Jean Reno and Olivia Thirlby.
