Marion Cotillard is set for The Diary of a Chambermaid
After taking on Batman in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES and then wowing critics with a great performance in RUST AND BONE, Marion Cotillard had quite the year. Next up for the talented actress is a starring role in the adaptation of Octave Mirabeau’s classic ‘The Diary of a Chambermaid’. Predictably, the story follows the tales of a chambermaid who witnesses the less than stellar side of upper-class and gets involved in a variety of uncomfortable situations that often lead to humorous and sometimes sad results. THE DIARY OF A CHAMBERMAID is set to be directed by Benoit Jacquot, who also directed FAREWELL MY QUEEN.
This is not the first time Mirabeau’s book has been adapted. The last was the 1947 film of the same name with Jean Renoir. Variety reports that this is a major role for Marion Cotillard and she’ll be appearing in almost every shot. Unfortunately, we won’t get to see Marion Cotillard in the role until probably 2015 at the earliest since filming doesn’t begin until March of 2014.
