Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis star in the red band Ted trailer

Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis in Ted

We’ve been hearing about the Mark Wahlberg film TED on and on for almost a year now and quite honestly it had fallen off my radar until the red band trailer popped up this morning. After watching Mark Wahlberg and his little bear friend, Ted, sing their “Thunder Song”, I have to admit that I’m very much intrigued. Just from viewing this red band trailer I can tell this will be one of the most crass films I’ll probably ever watch and I will only be able to recommend it to a handful of people who won’t be offended by a little cursing (actually a lot of cursing). I have slightly high hopes for this film, but am also wary as it could be really hilarious or fall into the HOWARD THE DUCK category of being overly crass with a bad storyline that is just painful to watch. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the former because I really do love Mark Wahlberg and I don’t want to lump any of his movies in with HOWARD THE DUCK.

TED, which also stars Mila Kunis, Giovanni Ribisi, Patrick Warburton, Joel McHale with the voice talent of Seth MacFarlane, follows John (Mark Wahlberg) who lives with a teddy bear brought to life by a childhood wish. Now in his 30’s he is trying to establish a relationship with Lori (Kunis) but is having difficultly because of his childhood toy. This is the first film from director Seth MacFarlane (he is most known as the creator of the famous television show Family Guy) and it opens in theaters on July 13, 2012.

If you can’t get enough of Mark Wahlberg (like me) you can catch his last film CONTRABAND which comes to Blu-ray later this month on April 24th. CONTRABAND also stars Kate Beckinsale and follows Chris (Mark Wahlberg), a former criminal who is trying to follow the straight and narrow after getting out of prison, but is pulled back into the life of crime by his buddies for one more job. Isn’t that always how it is.
