Mark Wahlberg has signed on for David O. Russell's Two Guns

I’m happy to hear that someone gets along with David O. Russell. The guy makes really excellent movies but seems to have a bit of a temper as indicated by the footage from I HEART HUCKABEES. But the director and Mark Wahlberg made an impression on one another. Maybe the two balance each other out due to a mutual respect and understanding.

Wahlberg won’t be under Russell’s direction on the adaptation of Steven Grant’s graphic novel, 2 GUNS. Actually, Russell did a rewrite of Blake Masters’ original script. So if Wahlberg has any questions about character motivation he can ask Russell. The actor is also reteaming with his CONTRABAND director Baltasar Kormakur.

The story follows a DEA agent and an undercover naval intelligence officer who unwittingly investigate each other as each steals mob money. I hadn’t heard of this graphic novel until today. It came out in 2008 so it’s relatively recent material. I’m glad that Hollywood is trying to find more comic material off the beaten path to use instead of just going with stories from Marvel and DC.
