Matt Damon and Jodie Foster live in different worlds in the new Elysium trailer
The more I see from ELYSIUM, the more excited I get for the Matt Damon starring, Neil Blomkamp directed science-fiction adventure. All the talk this summer is on the superhero movies coming out, but I can’t help but think that when the summer movies have all come and gone, ELYSIUM might end up being the best of the bunch. This new 3-minute long trailer sheds a lot of light on the specifics of the story and it looks like another great performance from Matt Damon and a reserved, evil turn for Jodie Foster. ELYSIUM stars Mat Damon, Jodie Foster, Alice Braga, Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, William Fichtner, Talisa Soto, Jose Pablo Cantillo and Diego Luna. The Neill Blomkamp directed film opens in theaters on August 9th, 2013. Check out the trailer below and see if ELYSIUM will prove to be a worthy follow-up for Neil Blomkamp after he directed DISTRICT 9 in 2009.
ELYSIUM official synopsis: In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the planet’s crime and poverty, and they critically need the state-of-the-art medical care available on Elysium – but some in Elysium will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve their citizens’ luxurious lifestyle. The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium’s Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces – but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.
