Matthew Modine joins Christian Bale and Tom Hardy in The Dark Knight Rises

Today has been quite an odd day for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES news. First we had the very slow reveal of the first official image from the film, featuring a very cool look at Tom Hardy as Bane. And now we get a few more casting nuggets for you, with news that Matthew Modine, Tom Conti and child actor Joey King have all joined the cast of the most anticipated film in the past decade. There’s no word on who any of these actors will play, but guessing their roles is half the fun when it comes to superhero movies. I can hear the “Joey King is Robin” theories going now. They join the cast that already includes Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Marion Cotillard and Gary Oldman.
I think Matthew Modine joining this film is absolutely hilarious. No offense to the guy, but he’s proven over the years that he can ruin any movie he’s in. I’m not sure what it is about him, but he just doesn’t have what it takes to be a movie star. I’m anxious to see what Christopher Nolan can do with him, although my guess is he and Tom Conti will have very small roles.
