McG beats Brek Eisner in the Ouija war

Lucky McG (sounds like it could be a brand name) has won over Brek Eisner and gets his opportunity to direct Universal’s adaptation of OUIJA, which of course is based on the Hasbro board game. He is currently in negotiations to direct the supernatural adventure film (think along the lines of THE MUMMY or INDIANA JONES) that revolves around a family (vague plot details). OUIJA will be written by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz and will be produced by Michael Bay’s production company Platinum Dunes.  If Michael Bay is involved at least we’ll get some cool effects.  No word on when filming will start or when Universal is planning a release.

I’m still not sure about these board games into movies.  First BATTLESHIP, now OUIJA, what’s next? Chutes and Ladders? Connect Four? I’m hard pressed to believe that Hollywood is out of ideas but maybe they really are. If we’re going to be doing board game movies, how about Candy Land? At least you can get some super bright and cheery sets.
