Michael Angarano may join Kevin Smith's hockey flick Hit Somebody

According to Kevin Smith, he will only be doing one more film before he helps indie filmmakers achieve their own dreams and that film will be HIT SOMEBODY. Smith wants all of the cast from his latest horror film RED STATE (John Goodman, Michael Parks and Melissa Leo to be specific) to return for his last film about hockey, and joining that cast may be Michael Angarano (GENTLEMAN BRONCOS and CEREMONY). Supposedly, Smith approached Angarano at the Sundance Film Festival and told him this, “Learn how to skate and learn how to speak in a Russian accent.” No contracts have been drawn up and signed yet, but Smith doesn’t really come across as someone who just offers roles on a whim, but who really knows. HIT SOMEBODY is supposed to start filming later this year with a 2012 release date.

Still so sad that Kevin Smith is basically going into retirement.  Maybe if we’re lucky this will be like a Brett Favre, Michael Jordon or Garth Brooks “retirement” and he’ll get bored and we’ll see him again.
