Michael Cera and Amanda Seyfried will join Mark Webber in new film

Mark Webber (who played Stephen Stills in SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD) has written a script and will direct a film (which is currently untitled) about the relationship between a father and his two-year old son after the death of his wife. Webber will portray the father and his own son will play…well the two-year old son. On board in either cameos or small parts will be actors: Michael Cera, Amanda Seyfried, Jason Ritter and Shannyn Sossamon. Webber has already begun work on the film, and shoots the scenes of his son with just himself, a sound guy and the director of photography, and relates his experiences as such:
It’s been really cool and eye-opening to limit the exposure to my son but create the scenes and moments that seem realistically uncomfortable. The blurring of boundaries and the overcompensation that you do with a child — how you look to them for affection when it’s not appropriate? It’s been an exercise to capture real life moments and still tell a compelling story.
It does sound like an interesting story that, if pulled off correctly, will be a genuine portrayal of parent and child. Since Webber is real life friends with the aforementioned actors, he wants to just have them playing supped up versions of themselves. No word on when filming will be finished or when he plans on releasing this film.
