Michael Clarke Duncan 1957 – 2012
Unfortunately, we have some sad news to close out this Labor Day weekend. Actor Michael Clarke Duncan passed away today at the age of 54 due to complications arising from a cardiac arrest he suffered in July. Michael Clarke Duncan was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance starring opposite Tom Hanks in THE GREEN MILE, but Duncan appeared in numerous television shows and feature films. Most notably, THE WHOLE NINE YARDS, THE SCORPION KING, DAREDEVIL and SCHOOL FOR SCOUNDRELS. He also did voice work in films like KUNG FU PANDA, GREEN LANTERN and CATS & DOGS: THE REVENGE OF KITTY GALORE.
Personally, I’ll always remember him as Bear in ARMAGEDDON, but he brought life and charm to every role he did. I never really thought Hollywood knew what to do with him since he had more talent than most actors with his physique and seemed more gentle than a lot of the tough guy roles he got offered. Regardless, Michael Clarke Duncan leaves behind a great resume of films and TV shows to remember him by. (Washington Post)
