Michelle Williams channels Marilyn Monroe in a new image from My Week With Marilyn

There seems to be a lot of Oscar-y anticipation around the upcoming film MY WEEK WITH MARILYN, but I just can’t get on board with it. I think the idea of making a film about an assistant’s week around old Hollywood glamor is enticing, but I’m not sure how well it will play out on screen. Marilyn Monroe is just too iconic of a public figure that it’s going to be hard to see Michelle Williams try to portray her. But Monroe isn’t the only famous celebrity being depicted in the film; Kenneth Branagh stars as Laurence Olivier, Dougray Scott is Arthur Miller, Judi Dench is Sybil Thorndike and Julia Ormond is Vivien Leigh. Derek Jacobi, Dominic Cooper, Emma Watson and Eddie Redmayne round out the cast.
MY WEEK WITH MARILYN opens in theaters on November 4th and will more than likely receive the patented Oscar push from The Weinstein Company. Say what you want about the Weinsteins, but when it comes to Oscar races, they’re tough to beat.
